In LS2 ,we made a DLO about how to take Notes like a caveman. we learn on how to understand basic words and sentences by just using 4 or 3 words. like me eat or me chase dog which only has 3 or 4 words.

LI : Understand the difference between perspective and Contrast
This Week For Reading , We were reading about the Boy In The Stripped Pyjamas again . but this time , the video said it was about a boy named Bruno . Bruno comes home , to find out that they are moving houses , and Bruno won’t see his 3 best friends again .
LI : To notice how the author uses vocabulary to create mood and atmosphere in a text
This Week For Reading , We read about The Boy In The Stripped Pyjamas . We watched a video about it , and we read the book . Honestly , The video was sad , because there is this kid called Daniel , and he lost his german friends . And Most importantly , he lost his Mum and his sister .
LI: To design a mural for our community that connects to my culture
For Reading we read ‘Painting the Town’ by by Renata Hopkins. This text was about how Christchurch has painted murals all over the city to bring back happiness to the city after the 2011 earthquake destroyed 80% of the CBD. My mural shows about my culture , and what I love about it .
I think the murals were painted to express people’s feelings if they had lost something important .
LI: To understand we make judgements based on stereotyping, assumptions and prejudices
We read the text Bok Choy for Reading. This text showed us the prejudices that existed towards the Chinese immigrants in early NZ. It also showed us that it is important to show empathy for those who are seen to be different from us. Our challenge after reading this was to write a letter to Ah Sum to thank him properly, as you didn’t have the right words when you were shivering in his hut.
Something I found interesting about the events in this text was how Chiniese people came to New Zealand .

LI: To celebrate our success
Last week PBS had their Summer Learning Journey celebration assembly. Mrs Grant came and presented our certificates and prizes. My certificate is for participation. The SLJ was a fun activity to do because you can get cool and fun rewards , and you can learn alot about stuff that you didn’t already know about . My favourite activity was the Anteater or Aardvark Activity , because it lets us learn fun facts about Anteaters and Aardvarks , and it tells us if it is endangered or not .
LI: To write a narrative from the point of view of a baby owl on its fist flight
Mrs Anderson read us the book ‘First Flight’ by June Crebbin. We talked about the narrators point of view and used a Gemini Gem to prompt us to think more deeply about what the story might look like when told in the first person.
“As the sun dipped below the hills, the breeze began to shake the trees. Tonight, I was finally getting prepared for my very first flight with Mum, even though my legs were swaying just as much as the branches.” I am still excited for my flight. I can see all my owl friends zooming in the sky. Well, birds peek at the tree beside me as it sounds like a clock ticking.
My heart beat racing as fast as a car.As the wind passed by like a grave stone on top of my body. “Suddenly, the wind pushed me, and my heavy wings wouldn’t open!” as I’m falling i began to panic as my wings would not spread then my Mum came and caught Me as I almost hit the ground. And flew me back to the tree where I tried to fly again and as I prepared for my second try.
I took deep breaths and my heart beat began to cool down as if I was drinking a nice refreshing drink. And then I jumped and my wings spread like if I was going for a big hug. The world looks so beautiful I can see everything. The trees move with the wind as a nice cool breeze hits my face. I knew that I could fly. I found out that if I believed in myself I could do it. I couldn’t have done this without my mother’s help and all I had to do was just be brave.
LI : To Calculate The Quotients Of Whole Numbers, Using Long Division
This Week For Maths , We learned Long Division . It was hard at first , but when i learnt it , it was easy to do . Then We made a DLO about it , with all the steps and on how to do it .
I learned that Maths Will Just Get Harder Every Time You Do It .
For Inquiry This Week , we made a slideshow about us trying to make an AI Picture , from scratch , without copying the original image . It took me about 5 tries to get a very very similar image .
I learned that AI Images are very hard to copy and make , but the longer you try to make it , the easier it will be .
